Joel started with the Corvallis Police Department as a Reserve Officer in 1996 and was hired full-time in 1998. During his career he has served as a field training officer as well as a Sergeant. Now a Captain, Joel manages the Corvallis Police Department’s Professional Standards and Support Services Division, which includes training, public relations, dispatch, and records functions. He has held leadership positions including being assigned to the Community Livability Unit, which is tasked with addressing long-term issues such as homelessness with community-based solutions and partnerships with local agencies that meet the need for social services.
